Irs Form 1040 Schedule D

Question: help! reporting timber tax?

My siblings and I inherited land in (june) 2007- We started having the trees cut in 2008 and received checks throughout the year. How would I report this income on my Form 1040? Schedule D or ordinary income? thanks If you can direct me to link for info at the Irs Website I would appreciate it. I am having a hard time finding info there or any publication that might help me. Thanks
