Revenue Tax Code

Question: (UK) timescale for claiming tax refund from HM revenue & customs?

I’ve recently noticed that for the previous tax year I’ve been on the wrong Tax Code (I’ve been on BR), so am due a tax refund. I’ve spoken to HM revenue & customs on the phone, and they’ve advised me that I need to send my documentation to the tax office with a covering letter, which I intend to send tomorrow.

Can anyone who’s been in a similar situation give me a rough timescale that I can expect (assuming all documentation is correct)?

Answer: It’s a busy time of year. Reckon 6-10 weeks.
