Tax Attorney Los Angeles Ca
Tax Attorney Los Angeles Ca

Question: Is there a list or an outline of Tax Deductions to have ready in order to fill the IRS f1040 and for CA f540?
My wife worked in 2007 for only 9 months as an independent contractor for an attorney office in Los Angeles, CA and got paid in cash and by checks without a W-4 form filed, but was given a 1099-MISC form with all her earnings but taxes were not taken out at all… thanks!
Answer: Probably none. The rule is the expense has to be ordinary and necessary for the job. If she worked in his office, on his phones, his computer, etc, then she doesn’t have any expenses (and was probably a misclassified employee anyway).
What exactly was she doing? if she was, say, running errands in her car? If yes, did she keep a mileage log of miles driven?
Why exactly did the guy pay her as a contractor? Was this legit or was he trying to save money for himself?
