Question: Can I claim for tax re-bate when I am JUST over the limit?

From 6 April 2008 – 5 April 2009 I only worked 6 months in the UK where tax was payable. In this time I earned just over £6200. I have researched and to claim for a tax re-bate you have to earn under £6035 between this tax year. I have just passed over the limit or may have calculated it slightly wrong so is it worth a try anyway to try and claim back the tax I have paid. Thanks guys!! Love love love x

Answer: They don’t have guidelines to determine what is “JUST over the limit.” 6200 IS the limit. They set it for a reason. You could try it, but I’m 99% certain they will dismiss it. Otherwise they’d have a million other people just like you wanting their rebates. They have to draw the line somewhere.
