Entry Level Tax Law Jobs

Question: What are Pennsylvania’s wage laws?
I am moving to Pennsylvania this year after Thanksgiving (for about six months) and will be looking for a job. What is the minimum wage there, and what is a good asking salary at an entry level job (I am just out of high school)? Also, how are you taxed in Pennsylvania? How much of your paycheck goes to Medicare, state tax, local tax, etc.? I am from New York, so I am unfamiliar with the laws in Pennsylvania and need some help. Thanks!
Answer: The PA minimum wage is $5.15. For a first time job without experience the minimum wage may be offered or you can excel and apply for prospects that simply pay a higher wage, i.e. $5.50 -$7.00.
State individual income tax is 3.07%.
Federal individual income tax for 2006 is 10%.
Medicare tax is 1.45%.
Social Security tax is 6.2%.I.E.
$5.15/hr * 40 hrs = $206.00 weekly.
$206 * 10% Fed = $20.60.
$206 * 3.07% State = $6.32.
$206 * 1.45% Medicare = $2.99.
$206 * 6.2% SS = $12.77.$206.00 gross pay = $163.32 net income.
26 weeks = 6 months = $4246.32 approximately*.
