Question: June 2009 Global Regents?
I just took the global regents 2009 today. For the most part, I’m pretty sure I did alright on the test. I am just a little shaky on the thematic essay. The essay was about violation of human rights.
For that essay, I used the Holocaust and France. I know the Holocaust was alright but is France a legitimate topic for the essay? I talked about how the 3rd estate had to pay all the taxes and were deprived of their privileges. I also talked about how they formed the National Assembly and I kind of hinted toward the Declaration of the Rights of Man. I also very briefly mentioned that the French Revolution eventually led to the establishment of a limited monarchy and increased people’s rights. Do you guys think that is good enough to get atleast a 3 out of 5 on the essay?
Answer: I wouldn’t actually consider France in the late 18th century as a human rights violator, considering the information you used to prop your argument up. I believe you would get a point off for discussing the violation wrongly, but otherwise it seems like you stuck to the facts–and to the required bullets.
