Question: Buying used car in GA and moving to NJ: Taxes?

I am planning to buy a used car in GA but will move to NJ within a month. Do I have to pay GA taxes? When I register the car in NJ, I will have to pay NJ Sales Tax, registration fees etc. Is that correct or out-of-state purchased cars are exempted from Sales Tax in NJ? I will sale most of my stuff here, load the car with whatever left and drive to NJ. I am trying to minimize my moving expenses by getting a car here and registering it in NJ. Any comments?

Answer: In GA the plates remain with the car. So buy it, put insurance on it and drive it to NJ. When you get there register it there and pay taxes, and enjoy your ride.
