Question: City limits on property tax increases in California?

I live in Los Angeles County and the city where I live has increased our property tax rate by huge amounts each year. We paid $350 in 2006, $450 last year and $550 this year. I know the state cannot increase Property Taxes by more than 2% each year, so my question is if there is a limit on how much cities can increase a persons property tax each year or if they have no limit and can increase it by whatever amount they want? There have been no reassessments or change of ownership in the property.

Answer: Your assessed value can’t be increased by more than 2% per year. Your bill is almost nothing by any measure. What else has happened to your property.
