Question: Tickets for Trans Siberian Orchestra Vancouver BC.?

Trans-Siberian orchestra is TWO groups of performers? I was looking at their extensive fall concert list and noticed they are playing same time, same day, and totally different places, repeatedly.

I’m in Vancouver BC and want tickets. Appalled TicketMaster tacks on greater than 25% in fees and that’s before taxes as far as I can see. Some companies want $40 delivery fees. Rogers sells tickets without fees to Rogers cell customers, who already pay too damn much for their phone service..

Where is best place to get tickets for concerts in Vancouver. I got Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum, from the Orepheum box office, no problem. Took a minute.

I’m amazed by the huge array of ticket sellers on the web and I’m way out of the loop. Also some show seats in front of the stage and others show seats BEHIND the stage! YUCK!

Who do you trust?

Thanks.

Answer: They have two touring groups – east and west. I played in a rock band with some of the east performers years ago when we were in college. Very good players. I can’t tell you anything about the Western group which is probably who would be in BC. For tickets, I start with Ticketmaster – you can see what seats you’re going to have by looking at the seating chart. If that doesn’t suit you, or if the good seats are gone, in the US I’ve had very good luck dealing with StubHub. They’re a reseller, but they bend over backwards to get you what you’re looking for. You may pay a premium -but not always. Sometimes people are happy getting 50-75% of their original price, it all depends. If you’re the most picky about your seating – IMO the very best thing you can do is call the venue box office directly and deal with a living human being. Note that in the age ot Ticketmaster this is not always possible – especially at larger venues – but it’s certainly worth a try. Say you want “aisle seat, in ‘X” section. The only way you’ll get that is buying from a human, not online. Hope that helps. You want to be fairly close to the stage – the side seats are fine – but the last I knew they did not travel with video screens so in an arena, if you’re toward the back you won’t see the stage with any detail. They do part of the show from a smaller rear stage however – at least they used to.

PS -if the west TSO is anywhere near as good as the east (which I’ve seen several times) – you will be blown away. It’s a very good show – especially the first half with the Christmas story. Second half is rock and roll and to be honest takes me out of the spirit a bit – I’d be happy if they’d leave it at the Christmas show and call it a night.
