Question: Back Tax 2008 IRS Question?

I have just filed taxes from last year – 2008. I had the return sent priority overnight mail. How long does it typically take to get processed? I don’t care about the money return but I am wondering when it will show up if a bank decides to check if I filed for 08. Also, is there anyway to make this process (getting Tax Return processed in system) happen quickly. Thx in advance!

Answer: Processing of prior tax returns takes 6-12 weeks from the date IRS receives the Tax Return. IRS main priority at this time is getting all the 2009 taxes returns processed.
IRS is not going to go out of its way to process a late filed Tax Return. You chose to file late so apparently not a big deal.
Again 2009 tax returns are priority.
