Question: How do I find out the Federal Tax Id number for an LLC?

I’ve done business with this company and would just like to know it for record-keeping purposes. Is there a public database I can use to find it, or do I need to call the company directly?

Answer: A tax ID is basically the social security number for the business. Why do you think that information would be available in a public database? You need to call the company, and unless you are extremely convincing and have a great reason for needing it, they will tell you to pound sand. And rightly so.
