Question: Whats the fair way to raise taxes to make up for lost gas Tax Revenue?

people are using 5 to 7% less gas, state and federal governments are losing gas Tax Revenue.
should we raise the gas tax, or tax the amount of miles driven, or tax sport vehicles such as motorcycles, atv’s and boats?

Answer: Reduced road usage results in less wear and tear on the roads and therefore less funds needed to maintain them. A slight increase in the fuel tax should be sufficient to cover the cost of deterioration due principally due to time and weather.

Taxing ATVs and boats might help the road fund, but those users don’t have a significant impact on the roads.
